Water Tests
K-State Research and Extension Douglas County office offers various resources for water testing.
Nutrient and Irrigation Water Quality for Producers
The Kansas State University soil testing lab offers irrigation water analysis for producers. We do not offer this service in our office. Please note that we do not submit water quality samples through our office and that you will have to ship them to the lab directly.
Pond Water Testing
Our Horticulture and Natural Resources Agent has details on Pond Management that go beyond water testing. For Blue Green Algae testing needs, see our Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory for more information or go to our pond management page.
Water and Wastewater Testing
SDK Laboratories is a commercial lab with options for several water tests. We offer water test boxes for pick up at our office free of charge. Community members need only to follow instructions from the lab included with the box. Please note, we do not offer water test shipments at our office.
Note: SDK Laboratories is a resource listed for informational purposes only. It does not imply endorsement or recommendation of the company or its services by either K-State Research and Extension or K-State Research and Extension Douglas County.
Well Water Testing
We defer to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment for Well Water testing. Their Water Well and Technical Support expert, Pam Chaffee P.G., is often available to assist members of the community.
Other Local Water Test Options
The Lawrence Douglas County Public Health Department also does water well testing for nitrates, coliform bacteria, and E. coli bacteria.
