K-State Research and Extension Douglas County office offers various resources for water testing.

Nutrient and Irrigation Water Quality for Producers

The Kansas State University soil testing lab offers irrigation water analysis for producers. We do not offer this service in our office. Please note that we do not submit water quality samples through our office and that you will have to ship them to the lab directly.

Water and Wastewater Testing

SDK Laboratories is a commercial lab with options for several water tests. We offer water test boxes for pick up at our office free of charge. Community members need only to follow instructions from the lab included with the box. Please note, we do not offer water test shipments at our office.

Well Water Testing

We defer to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment for Well Water testing. Their Water Well and Technical Support expert, Pam Chaffee P.G., is often available to assist members of the community.

The Lawrence Douglas County Public Health Department also does water well testing for nitrates, coliform bacteria, and E. coli bacteria.
