"Rural" doesn't have to mean "rough"! Join us for our Rural Living in Douglas County Resource fair! Break free of the uncertainty and confusion when it comes to Zoning & Codes, wells, ponds, prairie establishment, forest management and more! The event is free and open to the public and is funded by the Douglas County Natural and Cultural Grant Program. About the Fair

  • Date: April 12, 2025
  • Time: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • Location: Douglas County Fairgrounds
  • Door Prizes: gift certificates for plants, baskets of native seed, discounts on services, pond water test kit, fishing bundle, branded stuff (check back later for updates)
  • Food trucks: JB's Taco Truck

We have exciting topics lined up for community members to benefit from.

9:30 am - 10:30 am Dr. Joe Gerken, K-State - Fisheries and Aquaculture, will speak on pond management

11:00 am - 12:00 pm Luke Berning and Joe Piezuch (KS Prescribed Burn Assoc.) will speak on prescribed burning

12:30 pm - 1:00 pm Jason Tanking, Jason Tanking Construction, will speak on issues surrounding building a home in the country

1:15 pm - 1:45 pm EJ Jamison, Northeast KS District Forester, will speak on forest stand management

2:00 pm - 2:30 pm Tonya Voigt, Dg Co Zoning and Codes, will speak on planning, zoning, and code enforcement
